With the spring and summer being the prime part of the year for road work the men and women that build and fix Oklahoma's road have tough, dirty, and dangerous jobs. US Department of Labor statistic show that vehicles cause 90% of injuries and fatalities that occur in constructions zones. The fines are hefty for violating the speed limit or other traffic laws in construction zones. While all the warning signs and the stiff penalties are intended to ensure drivers slow down and watch out for construction workers—not every driver abides by them as was demonstrated recently in Del City, OK. Workers were pouring concrete when a driver ignored the construction cones and barricades at work zone and struck a worker. If you are unfortunate enough to be injured by driver, contact a workers compensation attorney as you may have several options from seeking civil damages.

Declared state of emergency, blizzards, snow, ice storms, wind, rain, and negative temperatures…what state is likely to have a winter like this? Oklahoma!
In February 2011, during Oklahoma’s most recent snowstorm, Governor Fallin declared a state of emergency. Many employees were forced to call into work because getting out of their driveways was nearly impossible. However, some employers did not close; therefore, employees were forced to call in an absence, loose pay, receive a write-up, or worse, be penalized or terminated. If you feel you were unfairly terminated as a result of a weather-related absence, contact an Oklahoma employment law attorney at Atkins and Markoff today to discuss your case.

Certain jobs are dangerous, and those who spend their lives performing in these capacities generally come to accept these risks as simply part of their job. While many would not think of sanitation workers as those who face the potential of serious injuries or worse on a regular basis, the fact is that they do, and those who have may not only have claims for benefits under Oklahoma personal injury law, but they could also have viable claims that need to be reviewed by Oklahoma City workers compensation lawyers. Below is an overview of this occupation.

A pipeline belonging to Enogex LLC, a subsidiary of OG&E, exploded near Pocasset several weeks ago. The explosion injured three people, one seriously. The explosion produced flames which could be seen 15 miles south of Pocasset, nearly to Chickasha. In its wreckage, the explosion left a large crater in the ground, an acre of scorched grass, three damaged vehicles, and three injured workmen needing medical attention. This type of workplace accident deserves the attention of an experienced Oklahoma Workers Comp attorney to protect the rights of the injured.
