It is possible these days to be convicted of a crime via the Internet. Facebook the social networking site that people can live chat, make posts on friend’s walls, give web gifts, and many other things can have criminal consequences. Â
A woman faces up to a year in jail if she is convicted of violating a protection order by poking someone on Facebook. A poke online could mean “Hey, you! Whats up?,” but some people can take it different ways.
According to inthenews.com, Shannon Jackson, from Hendersonville, Tennessee broke an order of protection stating, “no telephoning, contacting or otherwise communicating with the petitioner.”
Jackson poked the petitioner on Facebook and breached the protection order. If she is found guilty, Jackson faces up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine. She is due to appear in court later this month according to inthenews.com.
This arrest is the first one made from Facebook communication.
