Food, something we, as humans, need to survive. Did you ever expect to worry about your health risk when it came to buying dinner ingredients? According to expertrecall.com, “more than 70 percent of Americans are just as concerned about food safety as they are about the War on Terror.”

The Food and Drug Administration, FDA, has the responsibility for regulating the safety of our food products. In the United States, the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition is the branch of the FDA that makes certain the safety and truthful labeling of food products.

Listed below are examples of recent food recalls according to the FDA at recalls.gov. To read more about these recalled products or find out more recently recalled product please visit recalls.gov.

  • Meat, Poultry or Egg Products (Dec. 2009-Jan. 2010):
  • Instant Noodle Products (Ineligible for import to U.S)
  • Italian Sausage Products (Salmonella)
  • Chicken Pot Pies (Foreign materials) – No retail sales
  • Beef Products (E. coli O157:H7) – No retail sales
  • Beef Carcass (prohibited materials)
  • Adams Farm Beef Products (E. coli O157:H7) – No retail sales
  • Pork Skin Products (Mislabeling and Undeclared Allergen)
  • Ham Products (Listeria)
  • Ground Beef Products (E. coli O157:H7) – No retail sales
  • Fresh Ground Beef Products (E. coli O157:H7)
  • Beef Packers, Inc. ground Beef Products (Salmonella)
Food, except meat, poultry or egg products (Jan.2010):
  • The Wisconsin Cheeseman recalled Cheese Logs/Cheese balls
  • Hines Nut Company recalled Pine Nuts because of possible health risk
  • Parkers Farm, Inc. recalled all of its products, regardless of code dates, because of possible health risk
  • Merrick Beef Filet Squares Dog Treats
  • HAPPYBABY Stage 1 & Stage 2, because of possible bacterial contamination
  • HAPPYTOT Stage 4, possible bacterial contamination
  • Rudolph Foods issued allergy alert on undeclared milk in product
  • Heluva Good recalled Cold Pack Cheese Products because of possible health risk
  • PEO Chapter FO recalled Roasted Hazelnuts because of possible health risk
  • Bao Ding Seafood recalled Boiled Horse Mackerel
  • Harry London Candies, Inc. announced a voluntary and limited recall of Harry London Chocolate Pecan Caramel Stars due to an undeclared allergen
