The national economic downturn has many economists, journalists, and politicians uttering the f-word. No, not the four letter version, but foreclosures. Nationally, the high number of foreclosures has prompted both federal and state efforts to help struggling homeowners. With the economy sputtering along trying to get going again, many Oklahomans are finding themselves struggling to make ends meet. Financial troubles can be extraordinarily stressful, destroy relationships, and seem insurmountable. For some, bankruptcy may be the best way to get back on his or her feet.

Adjustment of Debts: A Chapter 13 bankruptcy tends to be the preferred form of bankruptcy because debtors are able to stay in possession of their assets. Because the debtor is actually repaying the debt, the court allows a longer time period for repayment, usually three to five years. An Oklahoma bankruptcy attorney prepares a repayment plan and presents it to the court. The court confirms or denies the plan depending on whether it complies with bankruptcy standards.

Everyone knows, and some more personally than others, that the American economy has been suffering on historic levels in recent years. There are many reasons for this unfortunate reality, but one of the many results is that people's home values have plummeted and many have been unable to maintain their mortgages payments in a timely manner. As a result, foreclosures in Oklahoma and the rest of the United States have been enormous in number, prompting the call for help to Oklahoma bankruptcy attorneys on a daily basis. Despite the fact that government programs were in place, they were not generally utilized, and this has led to the need for other solutions to be pursued for those experiencing this problem. When people experience financial problems, the stress that's associated with this situation can be crippling in almost every sense except the physical. Perhaps the worst part of financial problems is not even the lack of ability to purchase things that are desired, but rather the seemingly endless phone calls, threatening letters and other efforts that creditors make to collect on the money they are owed. One of the most common questions people in this unfortunate situation ask when they meet with an Oklahoma bankruptcy lawyer is how they can get the bill collectors to stop ruining their lives. Fortunately, there are options to make this happen.

Thinking about filing for Oklahoma Chapter 11 Bankruptcy? Â For the Texas Rangers, it was "the correct thing to do", according to the new team president, Nolan Ryan, who made the decision alongside attorney Chuck Greenberg. Â The bankruptcy filing was made four months after Tom Hicks announced his decision to sell the team for $575 million, in hopes of spurring the stalled completion of the sell. Â "I did not want to put the baseball future of the Texas Rangers in jeopardy or uncertainty for an extended period of time", Hicks said. Â With the non-waiver trading deadline set for July 31, the sale of the team needed to be completed before then in order for the team to have financial flexibility in trading. Â "We have some deadlines coming up that are obviously important to us as a ballclub, and feel like by bringing this to finality that we will then be able to do the things we feel like we need to do and push forward with the winning ways of the ballclub." Ryan said about the matter.

Filings for Oklahoma Bankruptcy this past April have reached almost 146,000, according to Automated Access to Court Electronic Records. This is an improvement from March, which had about 158,000, but marks a 15% increase compared to the filings counted in April of last year. April also marks the second highest month since the BAPCPA law went into effect in 2005, a law that was essentially made to decrease the rising number of bankruptcies and requires the assistance of an Oklahoma bankruptcy attorney in the proceedings.
