Another Toyota Recall is Announced PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 29 July 2010 22:12

It has not been a good year for Toyota.  The auto manufacturer that was once world-renowned for its high-quality, safe vehicles has been under intense scrutiny all over the world because of a series of Toyota recalls that have left consumers confused, angry and in some cases severely injured.  Overall, more than 8 million vehicles had been affected by the Toyota recalls, prompting calls for help to Toyota recall lawyers all over the United States.  Now comes word that yet another Toyota recall has been announced, and the details appear below.

The Next Toyota Recall - Steering Lock Bar Problems

The latest Toyota recall involves approximately 400,000 vehicles, and these vehicles are generally older models.  The reason for this announcement is that there are problems with the steering mechanisms in several models of Toyotas.  Specifically, the company announced that the steering lock bar could break under certain conditions, which immediately creates the risk of a serious car accident.  This announcement also comes on the heels of a subpoena from a federal grand jury that will look into previously announced steering problems in other vehicles.

Models Affected by the Latest Toyota Recall

Specifically, the models affected by the latest Toyota recall are as follows:

  • 373,000 Toyota Avalons manufactured between 2000 to 2004
  • 39,000 Lexus LX 470 vehicles manufactured between 2003 to 2007

These models are all in the United States currently, and Toyota announced that it would send out notices to owners of these vehicles directing them to the nearest dealership for necessary repairs.  To date, according to the company, no accidents have been reported because of this specific Toyota defect.

If you own one of these vehicles, take immediate action to keep yourself safe.  If you or someone you love has been injured by a defective Toyota or Lexus, contact the Toyota recall lawyers in Oklahoma City at Atkins & Markoff immediately to schedule a free initial consultation.
